Participation of Annaba’s Port Company in the international conference on "Decarbonisation of the Maritime Transport and Algerian Ports"
Annaba Port Company participated in the international conference on “Decarbonisation of the Maritime Transport and Algerian Ports”, organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, with the broad participation of several ministries and national institutions, including:
- Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies
-Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life
- Ministry of Finance
- General Directorate of Customs (DGD)
- General Directorate of Ports and Maritime Transport
- General Secretariat of the Ministry of Transport
- Port Services Group “SARPORT”
- General Directorate of Civil Protection
- Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines
In addition to experts, researchers, and representatives of other national institutions.
The event was inaugurated by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mr. Said SAYOUD, who stressed in his speech the importance of accelerating the upgrading and modernization of ports to make them model and advanced, while adopting alternative fuels and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce carbon emissions.
He also pointed out that the State encourages researchers and academics to work towards practical and effective solutions, and called on all stakeholders to mobilize and work jointly to achieve sustainable development goals in the maritime transport sector.
The Minister further highlighted the positive results achieved in ports, such as the reduction of vessel waiting times in port waters.
He concluded his speech by thanking all those who contributed to the development of the maritime transport and port sector, including institutions, experts, and national executives, calling on everyone to continue efforts to protect the environment and enhance the competitiveness of Algerian ports.
Through this participation, Annaba’s Port Company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at adopting alternative energies and environmentally friendly technologies, and actively contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals in the maritime transport and port sector.
This international conference also featured a working session bringing together representatives of the various participating entities, animated by Mr. Ali BOULARES, Director General of Annaba’s Port Company. It was dedicated to drafting a working paper aimed at reducing carbon emissions across the ports of the country, to be subsequently submitted to the supervisory ministry as a practical proposal to advance the decarbonisation process in the maritime transport and ports sector.
