Personal Data Protection: Seminar on the Implementation of Law No. 18-07

Under the High Patronage of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mr. Said SAYOUD, a seminar on the personal data protection under Law No. 18-07, as amended and supplemented, was held on April 9, 2026.

The opening session was chaired by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, on behalf of the Minister, in the presence of the Director General of Maritime Transport and Ports, the President of the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data accompanied by his delegation, as well as staff executives and representatives of various sectors and bodies.

The event featured a presentation delivered by the National Authority, during which the key provisions of the law were outlined, particularly those relating to the obligations of data controllers and compliance mechanisms.

In his address, the Minister’s representative reaffirmed the State’s commitment to protect privacy and accompanying digital transformation within a legal framework that ensures a balance between technological development and the safeguarding of rights and freedoms.

For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Port Services Group “SERPORT” stressed the importance of strengthening compliance in light of the increasing digitalization of the port sector, highlighting the need to raise awareness of the risks associated with the processing of personal data.

The proceedings concluded with a set of practical recommendations to be implemented on the ground by the relevant institutions.
