Unannounced Night Inspection And Work Visit of The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport At The Port of Annaba

According to the instructions of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mr. Said SAYOUD, targeted at strengthening the dynamism of national ports and continuing field monitoring of their activities, and as part of inspection visits to these strategic facilities, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport carried out an inspection visit to the Port of Annaba on Tuesday evening, March 17, 2026, at 21:30, accompanied by the Director General of Maritime Transport and Ports, the CEO of the Port Services Group, and in the presence of the Director of Transport of the Wilaya of Annaba.

The ministerial delegation was received by the Director General of Annaba's Port Company, accompanied by several staff executives of the company and representatives of the various stakeholders operating at the port, including Border Guards, Maritime Border Police, and Customs.

At the beginning of the visit, the delegation attended a detailed presentation held at the General Directorate meeting room, delivered by the Director General of Annaba Port Company. The presentation covered the annual port activity report for 2025, as well as the training program implemented, port activity digitalization projects, and various completed and planned development projects, whether related to port infrastructure or superstructure. It also highlighted the main operational milestones recorded during the same year.

The delegation also listened to a technical presentation delivered by the Head of the Port Facility Security Officer Directorate, covering the port facility security system and the safety and security procedures in place within the port area, ensuring the protection of installations, personnel, and goods according applicable standards.

Following these presentations, the Secretary-General expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved, commending the efforts made by the current management of the Company and its ongoing commitment to strengthen coordination and consultation with all stakeholders in port activities, particularly Customs services and the Maritime Border Police, in order to maintain the pace of improvement and enhance port dynamism. In this regard, he also emphasized the necessity of implementing practical training programs covering all categories of the workforce, to benefit port operations.

For his part, the Director General of Maritime Transport and Ports stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with all entities involved in port activity, with a particular focus on human resources, which are essential to achieving performance excellence, through continuous training and sustained support for competencies. He also highlighted the qualitative leap achieved by the Port of Annaba across various fields, reflected in its positive results and performance indicators.

The CEO of the Port Services Group also reaffirmed his close monitoring of all port activities, emphasizing his full support for efforts aimed at accelerating development and modernization, while noting the continued efforts to achieve the expected results of the Port of Annaba, which is considered one of the country’s leading ports and is experiencing unprecedented dynamism.

Subsequently, the ministerial delegation conducted a field visit to various port facilities and installations, where it observed port operations during 24/7 night shifts, the functioning of the single window for container digital processing, activities at quay terminals 22/21 and 2/1, as well as the container scanner area and the mobile laboratory for quality analysis and anti-fraud control. The delegation also reviewed the various technical equipment and technological tools ensuring operational efficiency and accurate control.

The delegation further inspected the advanced medical center in the southern part of the port, dedicated to workers health and safety, and reviewed operations in the northern area, including infrastructure and superstructure facilities, as well as the grain storage facility and its equipment.

The inspection visit concluded at 01:30 a.m., with the ministerial delegation emphasizing the need to continue efforts and strengthen coordination among all stakeholders in port activities, in order to improve performance and further enhance the role of Annaba port consolidating its position as a key logistical hub at both national and regional levels.
