In line with the instructions of the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Mr. Saïd SAYOUD, aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and strengthening occupational health and safety principles within ports, and in implementation of the operational directives of the SERPOT  Group, the Health and Safety Unit of  Annaba Port Company organized a field emergency simulation exercise on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, at 7:20 a.m.The exercise took place at the lighting mast on the port's northern quay, with the participation of the various relevant port departments and authorities.

This exercise forms part of the Port's regular preparedness program designed to assess the readiness of intervention teams, enhance coordination among all stakeholders, and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response and intervention plans in dealing with potential incidents within the port facilities.

The exercise scenario simulated two workers suffering an electric shock while carrying out their duties at the lighting mast, requiring the immediate activation of the Port's Emergency Response Plan. Intervention teams promptly implemented the established emergency procedures by first securing the incident site and isolating the source of danger, then providing first aid to the injured workers before transferring them safely for medical treatment, while ensuring the safety of all other personnel working within the port.

The exercise also involved the participation of all specialized departments, each performing its assigned responsibilities in accordance with the Emergency Response Plan. The operation was carried out in a well-coordinated manner with rapid response, reflecting the high level of training received by the teams and their readiness to handle such emergency situations efficiently and professionally.

The simulation was conducted under well-organized conditions and marked by excellent coordination among all participating services, ensuring the smooth execution of every stage of the exercise and the successful achievement of its preventive objectives.

The organization of such exercises demonstrates Annaba's Port commitment to fostering a strong culture of prevention, strengthening occupational health and safety measures, and enhancing preparedness to respond to potential risks. These efforts contribute to protect personnel, safeguarde port infrastructure, and ensure the continuity of port operations under the safest possible conditions.
